Grant Group Vice President Laila Gunesekere Martenstyn wins Woman Super Achiever in Advertising

Stalwart of the local advertising industry, Laila Gunesekere-Martenstyn was bestowed with the honour of Woman Super Achiever in Advertising and Media at the recently concluded World Marketing Congress in Mumbai.

Participants from over 50 countries vie for recognition at the annual World Marketing Congress.

Laila has headed the Sri Lankan chapter of the 4A’s and the International Advertising Association for two terms each. She is the recipient of the Zonta Woman of Achievement and the Harrison K McCann Leadership Excellence Award.


More importantly her work has won the company innumerable SLIM, Chillies, Effies and Sumathi Awards. She has also been a judge at all of these awards.

Her vision to develop the Sri Lankan advertising industry has seen her spearhead a series of industry specific training programmes, conduct Young Lotus for five years and lecture at SPAACS.


She has also been named one of the 50 most powerful women in Business. Conscious of the need to give back to society, she is actively involved with the Women In Need, and supports the school for the Deaf and Dumb.

Speaking on Laila’s achievements, colleague Alyna Haji Omar said, “She is always one step ahead, she practices being relevant every day, she is the voice of support, the call of inspiration.”
