Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association and Sri Lanka Singapore Business Council Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Foster Closer Trade and Business Relationships

Businesscafe - The Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA) hosted the Sri Lanka Singapore Business Council (SLSBC) on their first formal visit to Singapore after the pandemic.

The visit commenced with the signing of the first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SLBA and SLSBC.

The visiting delegates' presentations and networking with SLBA members and guests followed the MoU signing.

The event was hosted by CMS Singapore, providing an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan and Singapore-based professionals and businesses to connect and recognise the opportunities for collaboration and shared objectives.

The SLBA and the SLSBC will continue to promote and foster closer trade and business relationships between the communities in our respective countries and to the benefit of our members.

With the signing of the MoU, both organisations formalise their cooperation and embark on a positive collaboration journey.

Lakshanthi Fernando, President of SLBA and CMS Singapore Partner, said,

"It’s a historic occasion in many ways as the SLBA and SLSBC sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the first time, and this on the SLSBC’s first formal visit to Singapore post the pandemic.

We are delighted to formalise our cooperation through a MoU and look forward to embarking on a positive journey of collaboration and shared objectives wherever possible."

Prajeeth Balasubramaniam of the SLSBC added,

"Thank you to Lakshanthi and the Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA) team for hosting the SLSBC delegates with a great networking session in Singapore this morning.

We believe the MoU signed between the two entities will enable increased bilateral trade between the two countries."

About the SLBA

The Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA) is a non-profit organisation established in 1991 to foster closer trade and business relations between the professional communities of Singapore and Sri Lanka.

The SLBA aims to grow a diverse association with a strong reputation, reflecting its values of integrity, professionalism, and philanthropy.

About the SLSBC

The Sri Lanka – Singapore Business Council was inaugurated on August 14, 1997, and was the 18th bilateral Business Council formed under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The foundation for forming the Council was laid in 1994 when the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce entered into a Business Co-operation Agreement with the Singapore Manufactures’ Association, now known as the Singapore Confederation of Industries.

This change has widened the council's scope to extend membership to manufacturing companies and other Chambers of Commerce.
