The Girl Power Inter School Cycle Race is an open event where 12 riders from each school will compete against each other to vie for a trophy.
The race will be flagged off at 3.30 p.m. on Independence Avenue by Hon. Sujeewa Senasinghe, Deputy Minister of Justice.
The route for the race is Independence Avenue, Maitland Place, and Maitland Crescent. Winners of this competition will carry forward their points, which will contribute to the final tally of the Girl Power Invitational Inter School Old Girls Sports Meet held at the Sports Ministry Grounds on March 8th.
And don’t forget, the culmination of the cycle race will be followed by a mini cycle parade put on by all schools along the race route, so come cheer on the students too.
Considering the buzz and build-up that has so far been attributed to this event, which is essentially about community, fellowship, fun and all things that make up sisterhood in general, it will be one that should not be missed.
And, most important of all, excitement for this event has already reached a fevered pitch, thanks to everyone getting into a highly competitive gear because of multiple sports meet practices, encompassing ‘Old Girls’ of all ages and sizes, having taken place.

So girls young and old, come on over to Independence Square on March 1st to witness history in the making and cheer on the teams and participate in your school parade.
