The art of leadership brings into play a myriad of technical and emotional factors that combine to produce leadership success.

In the recent past, the success of emotional intelligence as a management skill has received a lot of attention.

Known throughout the business world as a crucial component of successful management, it is now made available to the Sri Lankan management community by the Colombo Leadership Academy (CLA).

On April 7, a workshop will be conducted by Archana Law, personal and business transformation coach who is a renowned multi skilled professional with diverse global experience in executive education programs, people development and design and the delivery of competency based training programs.

Speaking on emotional intelligence and its historical influence on management, Archana Law, the featured speaker at the event said, “True to Aristotle's famous words 'We are what we repeatedly do.

Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit’. This definition coupled with emotional intelligence, brings about a knowledge of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves.

By learning how to utilise and manage the components of emotional intelligence, managers can achieve far greater success in employee and customer relationship management.”

As a main component of CLA’s Business Strategy workshop series that is designed to strengthen management capabilities to lead and achieve results, emotional intelligence will be broken down into its components in order to provide managers with a springboard to achieving consistent results and better motivation.

Speaking on the importance of emotional intelligence and its impact in the business context, Archana went on to explain that, “Intellect and business expertise can only carry managers so far if they lack emotional intelligence.

The Colombo Leadership Academy strategic workshop will focus on the behavioral level, performance at work and on organizational leadership.

Participants will benefit on gaining and knowing how to effectively utilize the skillset to go from being a good leader to a great emotionally intelligent leader.

The workshop will also provide insight into tools and techniques that will help managers enhance their ability to lead and become more effective in achieving the results the organization needs.

The workshop will cover factors such as how to understand Emotional Intelligence competencies and apply them in interpersonal management situations; identifying personal strengths and limitations using the emotional and social competency inventory and how to best leverage the right emotional intelligence tools and skills for each situation to achieve the desired results.
