Coca-Cola’s global campaign aims to inspire people everywhere to look beyond the presents and “Make Someone Happy” in small but meaningful ways.

A 60-second TV ad celebrates generosity and togetherness and shows that all it takes to make someone happy is an act of opening one’s heart.

The story opens with Santa Claus enjoying an ice-cold Coca-Cola in his North Pole workshop.

Through his “Make Someone Happy” book, he watches from afar as scenes of happy holiday moments unfold – from a young girl giving her mother a handmade drawing, to a stranger handing an umbrella to a woman caught in the rain, to a doctor bringing his late-night staff a turkey and Coca-Cola. Jimmy Durante’s 1965 classic “Make Someone Happy” appropriately serves as the ad’s soundtrack.

“We tend to forget it but Christmas is one of the most powerful global marketing assets for brand Coca-Cola," says Julien Vancauwenberghe, global brand director, Coca-Cola. "With 80 countries airing the campaign this year, Christmas comes right after FIFA and the Olympics in terms of scale of activation.”

"Make Someone Happy" marks the return of Santa Claus as imagined by artist Haddon Sundblom, who Coke originally commissioned in 1931 for a series of ads.

“History and nostalgia are an important part of our brand, especially when it comes to the holidays, and Sundblom’s Santa Claus has been an integral part of our advertising campaigns since 1931,” said Ted Ryan, Coke’s director of Heritage Communications. “He is loved by millions as a universal symbol of happiness and generosity.”

“This campaign is all about sharing your time, attention, love and laughter with friends, family and even strangers during this magical time of the year,” said Andy McMillin, vice president,Coca-Cola Trademark, Coca-Cola North America.

“We’re encouraging people to embrace the spirit of the season and show how the act of being generous can have a powerful, positive impact on others that lasts long after the decorations come down.”

Leveraging Coca-Cola's global association with Christmas, Coca-Cola Sri Lanka will be rolling out a special 'Say It with Coke' Christmas Campaign.

“Coca-Cola wants to rekindle the magic of Christmas this holiday season and there is no better way of doing this than spending time with family and friends.

Our 'Say it with Coke' Campaign is all about sharing and togetherness and expressing your feelings with a simple message on a Coca-Cola bottle.

We hope that our cheerful Christmas Caravans and Live Carol Singers bring children, teenagers, adults and elders together, to celebrate the joy of this festival” says Abhishek Jugran, Country Manager, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Coca-Cola Far East Limited.

Coca-Cola will be taking its bright red Christmas caravan along with a Santa Sleigh to 50 locations over 18 days.

Together with Christmas Carols with a live band, and surprise gifts from Santa Claus, Coca-Cola aims to reach out to 100,000 people across the island.
