Arpico achieves another first with its own taxi service for shoppers

The Arpico retail chain has broken new ground in value addition with the deployment of its own dedicated taxi service exclusively for shoppers.

The service, a first for a supermarket chain in Sri Lanka, has commenced with a fleet of 10 Nissan Leaf electric cars at four Arpico Supercentres – Hyde Park Corner, Dehiwela, Battaramulla and Wattala.


Branded ‘Eco Privilege Taxi Service,’ the cars in distinctive Arpico livery will offer shoppers a comfortable, safe and environment-friendly ride home at Rs 40 per kilometre, the company said.


“Arpico Supercentres already enjoy a unique positioning in the supermarket space because of the many convenience-enhancing ancillary services they offer,” said Minodh de Sylva, Head of Marketing at Richard Peiris Distributors Ltd.


“This innovative new service will be an added convenience that will be appreciated by many customers.”

The Arpico retail chain now comprises of 17 Arpico Supercentres, 18 showrooms and 21 Arpico Daily mini supermarkets.


The Arpico Supercentres, the company’s flagship outlets, offer extensive parking, bill payments, banking facilities, lifestyle needs and the widest range of products ranging from household goods, electronic appliances to kitchenware and furniture, with the promise to shoppers that they are the most convenient shopping destinations in the country.
