Clogard educates families on oral health and cavity prevention

Clogard, one of the nation’s most trusted and recognized oral care brands, recently unveiled a comprehensive national initiative aimed at dental cavity prevention.

Cavities is the most common chronic dental problem in Sri Lanka yet it is largely preventable. Clogard’s new campaign educates the public of the life impact of tooth decay and encourages individuals and families towards cavity protection.

Health Officials confirm the importance of recognising that cavities are preventable and in the early stages reversible, and the need to develop comprehensive programs for prevention and management. Clogard’s proactive campaign towards this intervention for a cavity free Sri Lanka where family unit is an integral enabler towards dental cavity eradication.

According to Dr. Jayasundara Bandara, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Health, Dental Services “Tooth cavities is the single biggest prevalent disease in Sri Lanka. The Ministry of Health has been an advocate and an initiator to eradicate the cavity issue in Sri Lanka since the 1980s. Over the years the incidents of cavities have dropped but still cavities pose a national threat due to its impact on general health and the quality of life.”

“Dental cavities has been a main focal area for the Ministry of Health as it is the main cause for loosing teeth of the elderly which has resulted in more than 22% of 65-year-olds not having a single tooth. Hence combating cavities is a national initiative and the Health Ministry is keen to work towards eliminating cavities in the country. We recognize the importance of cooperation with public and private organizations to achieve progress towards a cavity free Sri Lanka,” he added.
