Lifebuoy Shampoo Champions Sri Lankan Women s Legacies on International Women s Day 2024

Businesscafe - Lifebuoy Shampoo proudly announces its initiative aimed at honouring the timeless legacy of outstanding Sri Lankan women on International Women’s Day 2024.

Launched at the premises of World Trade Centre and Independence Square on March 8th, this initiative is dedicated to bringing to life the inspiring women that have shaped the nation's history.

Following its launch, the movement spread to several locations in Colombo, including Diyatha Uyana, Pettah Railway Station, and Havelock City, from March 8th to 11th, where participants of the public made their pledges.

In line with the global theme of 'inspire inclusion,' Lifebuoy Shampoo embarks on a proactive journey to emphasise the profound contributions of women in Sri Lanka.

Through this initiative, Lifebuoy aims to shine a spotlight on these overlooked voices, fostering a more empowering narrative and cultivate a community that embraces inclusivity by celebrating the invaluable influence of women across Sri Lankan history.

“The launch event at Independence Square and WTC aims to create a lasting impact on womanhood in Sri Lanka, highlighting the brand’s commitment to celebrating inclusivity and empowerment.

At its core, this initiative aims to address the lack of female representation among statues honouring influential leaders who have shaped our society. It seeks to immortalise their legacies by enabling the public to visually engage with these figures through QR code scanning, revealing Augmented Reality (AR) renditions.

Additionally, we extend an invitation to the public to support this social campaign by pledging to honour these legacies.

For every pledge received, the brand commits to contributing Rs. 5 towards the construction of statues, marking the beginning of a collective promise to provide the young women with inspiring role models to admire,” stated Treshan De-Zoysa, Brand Manager of Lifebuoy Shampoo.

Commenting on this initiative, Shamara Silva, Marketing Director of Beauty, Wellbeing, and Personal Care at Unilever Sri Lanka, emphasised its significance, stating,

“This social campaign holds profound sentimental value for Lifebuoy Shampoo, advocating for its mission to grow strong girls and create the future female leaders of Sri Lanka.

By paying homage to remarkable female personalities, we embark on a transformative journey, offering our girls inspiration through the invaluable role models who have left a lasting legacy in Sri Lanka.”
