The Ward Place car park of Odel will come alive with the sounds of alternate rock performances by five Sri Lankan acoustic acts on Saturday 30th August, at a unique fundraiser to help special needs dogs being cared for by Embark.

Organised by a group of ‘pashionable’ young volunteers of Embark, ‘A Hand to Help a Paw’ is the first fundraiser of its kind, and will feature Magic Box Mixup, Sam, Rav David, CC and Minoli, at a fun-filled evening of cool music from 3pm to 6pm. Tickets, available Odel Alexandra Place, are priced at Rs. 500 per head.

All profits from the event will go towards covering the food and boarding costs of the special needs dogs who are permanently homed at Embark, the organisers said.

Among the special needs pooches under Embark’s care are blind dogs, amputees, paralysed canines and many others. “Each one of them is unique and wonderful in their own way, but all these dogs have one thing in common, their need to be loved,” OtaraGunewardene, Founder of Embark said. “They remain at Embark unless someone really generous offers them a home.

We are grateful for our enthusiastic, resourceful volunteers who are the architects of this event; the musicians who volunteered to play for the cause and everyone else who helped us in numerous ways to put this event together.”
