Nawaloka Hospitals PLC was awarded the top award in the General Services and Utilities category for the second consecutive year at the ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards 2017, organized by the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Sri Lanka.

The ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards aims to reward Sri Lanka’s most transparent, accountable and responsible corporates.

ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards, which is in its fourteenth year, presented awards across seven categories—Conglomerates and Diversified, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, Small and Medium Enterprise (SME), Retail and Trading, Leisure and Connected Services and General Services and Utilities.

The awards are judged on global criteria developed by ACCA and are aligned to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines for sustainability reporting.

Expressing his delight on winning this prestigious award, Jayantha Dharmadasa, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Nawaloka Hospitals PLC said, “It is a great honour to be recognized among leading corporates of the country at this event for the commitment we have made towards ensuring the highest standard of service and the sustainable journey we have adapted to.

We are continuously striving to drive a sustainable business strategy that focuses on the added value and long-term outcomes that can be delivered through being sustainable.

We will continue to be the best and to provide with a golden service to Sri Lanka.

We are continuously striving to drive a sustainable business strategy that focuses on the added value and long-term outcomes as well ensure transparent and active engagement with all stakeholders through high quality financial reporting,” Jayantha added further.

The entry of Nawaloka Hospitals into the state dominated healthcare sector in 1985 saw the private health care system take root in Sri Lanka.

The launch of the hospital and the overwhelming response it received from the people demonstrated a long felt need for superior healthcare in a pleasant environment.

Nawaloka was set up to mirror reputed hospitals in the region which offered advanced medical technology and expert medical care, thus eliminating the need for people to travel out of Sri Lanka for specialized medical treatment.

The Hospital was a pioneering initiative, established under the Chairmanship of Late Deshamanya H. K. Dharmadasa, to be a centre of excellence in high technology diagnostic and curative facilities.

Driven by the Vision to be the Hospital of Tomorrow, the medical institution has come to be known as a centre of excellence and a preferred healthcare institution in the country.
