Unilever’s most trusted baby care brand, Pears assisted a family of eight with three newborns in the drought affected village of Halmilaara, Ranchamadama, Embilipitiya recently.

Assisted by Deepal Wickramasinghe, Regional Sales Manager of Unilever and his team from the Sabaragamuwa Province, Pears provided much needed food items and baby products for the triplets. The Unilever team also opened back accounts for the new born and will be depositing Rs 500 monthly.

Deepal Wickramasinghe, Regional Sales Manager of Unilever stated “we are extremely happy that we were able to help this family with the triplets, who have been affected by the drought. The Sales Team and I are constantly in the look out to see how we can assist others, in order to make their lives better.”

The triplets have three older siblings aged 16 (son), 12 (daughter) and 06 (son). The father, H.P. Wijethunga (37) is a farmer who is assisted by his wife H.P. Iranganee (39). However, their crop has been severely affected due to the prevailing drought in the area.

“We have initiated a number of programmes in support of mothers and new born babies, including recent initiatives; the Happy Baby Learning Centre, which gives mothers from even the most rural reach of Sri Lanka access to new knowledge on caring for new born babies and how to ensure they have a happy childhood,” stated Vidhushi Rambukwella, Assistant Brand Manager for Pears. “As a brand that is committed to the well-being of babies, we at Pears decided we need to help this family and their new born babies.”
