Volvo XC90 cars set the standard with new and stylish design transfor-mation

Swedish Cars, an IWS Holdings company, which recently became the im-porter and distributor of Volvo’s cars in Sri Lanka, will soon launch a line of luxury cars displaying Volvo’s stylish transformation and its first interpretation of a new brand direction, where design has an elevated strategic importance to the Volvo brand.

The all-new XC90 model, which will be officially launched in the country in August this year, is the first car to be built on the Volvo company’s brand new, in-house developed Scalable Product Architec-ture (SPA), and the first Volvo production model to carry the company’s new design language, which has been successfully showcased in the critically-acclaimed Volvo Concept Coupé and the Volvo Concept XC Coupé.

The first four decades of Volvo history was characterised by classic craftsmanship and high quality materials.

This vital part of Volvo’s brand DNA is now being merged with the more recent focus on technolo-gy and smart functionality.

The result is an exotic interior with genuine materials and beautiful detailing.

“Reliable functionality has always been a non-compromise prerequisite for Scandinavian designers.

Designs have to deal with a harsh reality that demands meticulous attention to detail and quality.

Combining this with a distinctive design language that is inspired by a unique Scandinavian environment will give us a competitive edge that no one of our competitors can match.

You could say that we will continue to do what Volvo always has done. We will just do it much better.” says Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President Design at Volvo Car Group.

The new in-house developed architecture and engine programme are the enablers for a stronger emotional expression of the Volvo brand, both when it comes to the exterior design and a new approach to the interior, user interface and connectivity.

Volvo’s focus on safety has moved from offering protection in worst-case scenarios to creating features that sup-port the driver and enhance the user experience.

Volvo Cars’ approach is to create human-centric features that actually make today’s hectic life easier for the user.

The all new XC90 is already available in Sri Lanka for pre-order.

There are three 7 seat variants to choose from, with a four-cylinder su-percharged and turbocharged petrol engine, a four-cylinder twin turbo diesel engine or a four-cylinder supercharged and turbocharged twin engine plug-in hybrid with up to 400 horse power.

Furthermore, the all new XC90 is fully equipped with pilot assist technology, advanced audio systems, intellisafe exclusive safety features and many more.
