Organized by the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army, this annual sporting event is held in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers’ Association. The Saliyapura Gajaba Supercross tracks this year hosted over 100 drivers and riders, cheered on by over five thousand spectators. The event is aimed at generating funds for the creation of infrastructure and welfare facilities for disabled war heroes.
Team Exide’s riders performed exceptionally well at the Gajaba Supercross, with Lahiru Jeewantha emerging winner in the Group M-STD/MOD-Motorcycles-over175cc up to 250cc (4T) and over 100cc up to 125cc (2T) Race 01 and Race 02.
Riding championship winner Shehan C. Adhikari came in 2nd place in the Group MX-Motorcycles-over 175cc up to 250cc (4T) and over 100cc upto 125cc (2T)-Race 01 and Race 02 and also in the category of Group MX-Motorcycles-over 175cc up to 250cc (4T) and over 100cc upto 125cc (2T)-Race 02. He came in third in the Group MX - Racing motorcycles over 100cc upto 125cc (2T) category as well.
Exide’s Sampath Kumara came in second in both races held under the category; Group M-STD/MOD-Motorcycles-over175cc up to 250cc (4T) and over 100cc up to 125cc (2T)
Team Exide’s Driver, K. Parameshwaran won the Group SL – A Mini 7 1000cc category, while Chaminda Weerasuriya came in third place in the Group-SLN Cars-Ford Laser/Mazda 1500cc category.
