The Commercial Bank of Ceylon recently hosted about 360 government pensioners at an event titled “Pensioners’ Day” at the Provincial Council Auditorium in Kurunegala.

The event included a medical camp for all participants and a presentation by a doctor on non-infectious diseases, in addition to an entertaining act staged by celebrities Susila Kottage and Upali Silva of ‘Kopi Kadé’ fame.

The Commercial Bank also made a presentation on its recently launched Pensioners' Loan Scheme that enables pensioners to borrow up to Rs 2.5 million, and its Pension Advance facility that allows pensioners to apply for an advance on any day of the month at up to 75% on their previous month’s pension.

Commercial Bank’s Regional Manager Wayamba, Mrs. Chandani Siyambalagastenne was the Chief Guest of this event.

On-the-spot advice and guidance for Pensioners' Loans was available to the audience and those who applied for loans on the same day were entitled to concessionary interest rates and branded gifts.

The event in Kurunegala followed two similar events held in Colombo and Anuradhapura and the Bank said it plans to conduct more events of this nature in 2019.
