Among them are 21 girls and 20 boys, who are expected to compete under different categories during the six-day competition conducted by Badminton Association of Indonesia and sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Asia.
Out of the 41 young shuttlers eight have been listed to compete in the Men’s Singles category, while 11 will play in the Women’s Singles category.
The Men’s Doubles category will be represented by 16 players, while 17 have entered to compete under the Women’s Doubles segment, in the regional ranking tournament where competitions will be held in three age categories of Under-19, Under-17 and Under-15.
Participation of this tournament will be important for the players to enhance their world rankings, in addition to gaining fierce competition as well as international exposure.
The Sri Lankan players will be accompanied by a eight officials with Harindu Udayanga, Mohamed Shifad, Nilusha Perera and Susantha Wijendra functioning as coaches.
Shyamali Ratnakaye will be in-charge of the squad as the Manager and Lady Chaperone, while Tharanga Jayanetti and Shashikala Amarasinghe joining as Additional Lady Chaperones in addition to Dhammika Palangasinghe, who also joins the contingent as an assistant.
