JXG partners with Foundation of Goodness to uplift rural communities through sustainable empowerment

JXG (Janashakthi Group) has joined hands with the Foundation of Goodness as a key enabler of the Monaragala Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre, strengthening its pledge to foster lasting, purpose-led impact in underserved communities.

The Foundation of Goodness has extended its reach into remote parts of the country through Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres which is a powerful model that brings high-quality facilities, skills development, and holistic education into the heart of disadvantaged communities.

These Centres serve as the nerve centre of each village, offering access to essential programmes and resources that foster self-empowerment, reduce inequality, and uplift overall standards of living.

In June 2025, the Monaragala Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre supported 1,233 beneficiaries, welcomed 282 new registrations, and conducted 15 subject-based programmes, highlighting the immediate impact of this initiative.

Building on this momentum, in July 2025, the Centre engaged 260 registered students and reached a total of 1,168 course beneficiaries across 15 subjects, benefiting 29 villages and 17 schools.

Of these, 87 were male and 173 female registered students, while course participation included 423 male and 745 female learners.

The programmes spanned a wide range of subjects including Computer Training, English and Tamil Language, Primary Education, Dress Making, Cookery, STEAM, Planetary Health Education, Goodness Agriculture Initiative, Traditional Sri Lankan Dancing, Children’s Good Values Initiative, Stray Friendly Initiative, and Good Care for Elders, reflecting the holistic approach taken to uplift and empower rural communities.

Commenting on the partnership, Ramesh Schaffter, Managing Director/Group CEO of JXG (Janashakthi Group) noted,

“We are proud to stand alongside the Foundation of Goodness in bringing life-changing opportunities to rural Sri Lanka through the Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres.

This partnership is a natural extension of JXG’s (Janashakthi Group’s) philanthropic arm, the Janashakthi Foundation’s, enduring purpose of uplifting lives and empowering communities.

It reflects our belief in supporting platforms that deliver sustainable, measurable change across Sri Lanka.

Through the Janashakthi Foundation, we focus on engaging and building strong relationships with the communities that we serve while creating opportunities to uplift their lives.

Our focus on national priorities has enabled us to grow alongside the nation and positively impact communities over the years.”

Kushil Gunasekera, Founder and Chief Trustee of the Foundation of Goodness, commented,

“At the Foundation of Goodness, our mission is to bridge the urban–rural divide by creating equal opportunities.

The Monaragala Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre, supported by JXG (Janashakthi Group), demonstrates how purpose-driven partnerships can transform lives.

Together, we can provide world-class facilities, life-enhancing programmes, and sustainable opportunities that empower underserved communities and create lasting impact across Sri Lanka.”

Gunasekera further added, “We inculcate a meaningful change amongst rural communities that we wish to see, by adopting ethics, values, responsibility, discipline and ‘be good – do good’ initiatives.

By way of 22 Empowerment Centres as well as 2 sports training facilities in Seenigama and Vavuniya through which we have reached over 1 million beneficiaries from 1000+ villages island-wide, free of cost, changing the rural landscape to give communities an opportunity to shine.”

This partnership between JXG (Janashakthi Group) and the Foundation of Goodness exemplifies how collaboration, vision, and commitment can drive meaningful change.

By continuing to invest in rural communities, both organisations reaffirm their dedication to building a more equitable and empowered Sri Lanka, where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
