SFML as Sri Lanka's leading flour milling company is committed to nourishing the nation through quality products.
Launched last year, the 2025 Scholarship Program is being conducted for the second consecutive year and is among the company’s most meaningful community engagement initiatives.
The scholarship recipients represent varied plantation regions, including students from major estates under Namunukula Plantations PLC, Balangoda Plantations PLC, and Kelani Valley Plantations PLC.
These bright minds will pursue studies in fields ranging from management and physical science to arts and peace studies at leading universities including Eastern University, University of Kelaniya, and Sabaragamuwa University.
Notable achievers include Sathyawelu Rojinee from Spring Valley estate, district rank 46 who will study Peace and Conflict Resolution at University of Kelaniya, and Ravichandran Asoj from Halgolla estate with a district rank 92, pursuing Management and Information Technology at South Eastern University.
Partnering with the Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT), Serendib Flour Mills identified these talented individuals through a comprehensive selection process.
The initiative complements the company's existing commitment to estate communities through their 'Adhi Shakti Fortified Wheat Flour' program.
The program demonstrates the impressive academic potential within plantation communities.
Each scholarship covers university expenses, enabling these students to pursue higher education dreams that might otherwise remain unattainable.
The scholarship program also illustrates the company’s belief in supporting the untapped potential of tea plantation communities.
SFML truly believe these young scholars will become catalysts for positive change within their communities.
As Sri Lanka's foremost flour mills, Serendib Flour Mills continues expanding community impact beyond business operations, creating pathways for estate youth to access quality higher education and professional opportunities.
The success of these ten pioneers is expected to inspire countless other tea plantation students to pursue academic excellence, knowing their achievements will be recognized and supported.
