AIA Insurance Lanka recently executed the next phase of its community relief programme, ‘AIA Divimagata Piyapath, Senehase Gamana’, mobilising a nationwide effort to provide essential school supplies and stationery for the new academic year to children in communities impacted by Cyclone Ditwah and the widespread landslides and floods that followed.
In the wake of one of Sri Lanka’s worst flood disasters in decades, thousands of families are struggling to rebuild their lives, and many children risk falling behind in their education due to the lack of basic learning materials.
Through this initiative, AIA aims to bridge that gap and restore hope by ensuring students in the most affected areas have the tools they need to continue their studies without interruption, demonstrating AIA’s long-standing commitment to helping Sri Lankans live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.
To make contributions simple and accessible, AIA branches located near key train stations served as designated collection points for school supplies and stationery.
Donations were also collected through the AIA Rethink Healthy Train, which commenced its journey from Colombo Fort and aggregated contributions from communities and AIA branches along the way.
These donations will be distributed to schools in Mannar, Matale, Kotmale, Gampola, and Mahiyanganaya, where students urgently need essential stationery and educational supplies.
AIA Wealth Planners are the driving force behind this initiative, taking an active leadership role in making it a success.
They are coordinating efforts on the ground, organising logistics, mobilising resources, and engaging with local communities to ensure smooth execution.
Their commitment reflects AIA team members’ core values of care and responsibility.
AIA Insurance Lanka launched its community support initiative,
‘AIA Divimagata Piyapath’ as an urgent humanitarian assistance programme in response to the unprecedented disaster caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
As part of the immediate relief efforts, AIA provided essential medicines to 3,654 individuals sheltering in 41 government-run safety centres in the Matale District.
Additionally, free essential medicines were distributed to 20,825 individuals sheltering in 211 safety centres in the Nuwara Eliya District through the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital.
A comprehensive health service camp was organised for over 600 families affected by floods in the Thalwatte area, Kelaniya, ensuring timely medical attention and care.
Further reinforcing these efforts, AIA extended its commitment to child welfare by donating funds to SOS Children’s Villages, ensuring vital support for children severely affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
The project will continue for the next six months, delivering sustained relief and support to communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah across Sri Lanka.
Through a series of targeted initiatives, AIA aims to help families rebuild their lives and restore stability during this challenging period.
This long-term commitment reflects AIA’s core purpose of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives, ensuring care and resilience remain at the heart of every effort.
