businesscafe Hemas Hospitals aims to promote overall health and wellbeing at new primary care centre in Negombo

Businesscafe - Extending its portfolio of exceptional healthcare offerings, leading private healthcare provider Hemas Hospitals recently introduced a state-of-the-art, spacious primary care centre to the residents of Negombo.

The new OPD offers comprehensive and affordable preventative and curative care solutions in one place through a highly-skilled, experienced team of consultants and nursing staff – a first in the region.

It is located at No. 130/2/2, Colombo Road, Negombo (Opposite the Negombo District Hospital), in conjunction to the Hemas Laboratory.

The grand opening, held with strict regard to the regulations imposed by the government health authorities, saw the participation of Hemas Hospitals and Laboratory Chain Chairman Murtaza Esufally, Director/General Manager Dr. Lasantha Karunasekera, Hemas Hospitals Director Laboratories Dr. Chamila Ariyananda, and General Manager Marketing Hemas Hospitals Nishantha Jayamanne.

Geared with the latest technology and equipment, the Hemas Primary Care Centre's unique offering enables patients to channel and consult a wide selection of specialist consultants as well as screen and maintain overall wellbeing with an on-premise wellness centre – Suwatha Piyasa. Constructed at the Hemas Laboratory building in Negombo, which is fitted with the latest advanced screening technology, patients can also benefit from the efficient and comprehensive lab facilities available here.

"OPD centres are designed to deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time, which is a vital capability to have in a community such as Negombo, with a rising burden of non-communicable diseases. Our primary goal for this new initiative is to therefore foster a culture where paying attention to and maintaining good health becomes a daily habit, which will reduce the massive impact NCDs have on both our communities and government healthcare system. As Sri Lanka's most accredited private healthcare provider, it is our duty to enable this critical requirement. We believe that our new centre in Negombo fulfills this vision, and will have significant positive impact on the people in this region, because they are now able to have their healthcare needs met closer to home, with the help of our dedicated, skilled team of consultants and staff resident here," Hemas Hospitals Managing Director and President of the Association of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Dr. Lakith Peiris opined.

Well connected to its main hospital in Wattala, patients can also take advantage of a shuttle service to move to Hemas Hospitals Wattala for extended care if necessary. With the Hemas online lab portal, patients can access a consolidated personal profile of their lab reports, while a live online tracker is also available to make their channeling appointments more efficient by cutting down on the time they have to spend waiting for the consultant to arrive.

The OPD's value proposition reaches higher than any other centre in the region so far, scoring points through its visual appeal, focus on overall wellness, affordability, quality and digital connectedness that simplifies and amplifies the overall healthcare journey for patients. The centre harbours plans to conduct regular activations to connect and engage with these communities, and promote a healthier and fitter lifestyle that will boost their overall quality of life, by helping prevent and better manage the growing prevalence of NCDs.

"We are both thrilled and honoured to improve access to affordable, quality primary care for the people in Negombo and its suburbs. We are confident that we have been able to put together an invaluable, premium solution that supports important long-term relationships with physicians and continuity of care, which in turn will translate to the exceptional management of both chronic and acute conditions, as well as overall health and wellbeing. Most significantly, the centre gives access to extended care facilities through our main hospital in Wattala to ensure that all patient requirements, even if they step beyond the confines of primary care, are fulfilled without hassle. Our strategically crafted solution will undoubtedly results in exceptionally better clinical outcomes for patients," stated Director/General Manager Hemas Hospitals and Laboratory Chain Dr. Lasantha Karunasekera.
Hemas Hospitals is the only COVID-19 safety certified hospital in Sri Lanka, as well as the first to receive the Australian Council on Healthcare Standard Institute (ACHSI) international accreditation for exceptional patient safety and superior clinical outcomes. Established in 2008 with the launch of its pioneering facility in Wattala, followed by a second hospital in Thalawathugoda, Hemas Hospitals has today grown into one of the most advanced hospital chains in Sri Lanka.
