Sri Lanka Junior International Badminton Series 2025 sets off in Naiwala

The Sri Lanka Junior International Badminton Series 2025 commenced followed by a grand opening ceremony at the New Saniro Sports Complex in Naiwala, Gampaha yesterday morning.

The four-day international event, where leading badminton-playing nations are taking part, was declared open by the President of Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB), Mr. Roshan Gunawardena as the chief guest, with the presence of other distinguished guests.

Among others present at the opening ceremony were Mr. Dinesh Jayawardena, the Chairman of Tournament Committee Chairman, Mr. Buddhika de Silva, the Vice President of SLB, Mr. Ajith Wijesinghe, General Secretary of SLB, Mr. Jaliya Jayasekara, the Secretary of the Organising Committee and National Selector, Mr. Kamal Gamlath. The games followed soon after the opening ceremony.

The tournament features competitions across Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, and Under-13 age categories, with matches being held in Boys’ and Girls’ in Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.


All games will be conducted in line with BWF’s official laws and regulations.


Beyond its international prestige, the event holds significant value for Sri Lanka’s own aspiring shuttlers, who will have the opportunity to face off against elite global talent and gain invaluable exposure to world-class competition.
