Exports to the EU grew by 12.53 percent during the month, while shipments to the USA, UK and other markets fell by 1.92 percent, 11.99 percent and 9.84 percent respectively.
However, for the period January to October 2025, total apparel exports rose by 6.12 percent year-on-year.
Exports to the USA grew by 1.37 percent, while the EU recorded a strong 14.05 percent increase.
Exports to the UK and other destinations also reported modest growth of 0.98 percent and 8.31 percent over the same period in 2024.
The Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) says, “Sri Lanka’s apparel sector continues to hold steady despite challenging global conditions.
The strong growth in EU markets and the positive cumulative performance reflect the industry’s resilience, ongoing investments in competitiveness, and our commitment to meeting the needs of international buyers.
Sustained market diversification and consistent policy support will be essential as we work to build on this momentum in the months ahead.”
