The aim of this initiative is to enhance the competencies and professional standards of Career Guidance Officers (CGOs) in Sri Lanka to meet international best practices.
A specialized training programme was conducted from the 9th of July 2024 to the 11th of July 2024 at the National Institute of Plantations Management in Athurugiriya for approximately 30 CGOs.
This programme will be followed by an extensive six-week training programme, conducted for over 200 CGOs across various locations in Sri Lanka, including Anuradhapura and Badulla.
The training programme will cover topics including, an Introduction to Career Guidance Practitioners, where TVEC’s certification officers will provide a comprehensive overview of the NVQ Level 4-5 Career Guidance Practitioners, detailing training content and objectives.
Professional Career Guidance Training, which will be conducted by Mr. Ajith Bopitiya, a HR Generalist, who will provide an in-depth training which covers theoretical frameworks and practical application in career guidance.
Lastly, an Overview of Korean Career Development Counsellor Practices, which will be conducted by an esteemed Korean Doctor and Professor who will share insights into the roles and competencies of Career Development Counsellors in Korea and an introduction to Koreas’ NVQ, NCS, and key employment polices.
To maximise the accessibility to the vast knowledge that will be shared, the initial training sessions was lived-streamed on YouTube with key sessions recorded and to be uploaded on the Career Platform.
This ensures that those who were unable to attend in person can still benefit from the training sessions.
