Mobitel mCash offers mobile donations services to sacred temples in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa this Poson

The National Mobile Service Provider Mobitel, for the first time introduced a new and unique service through its mobile money platform, mCash to facilitate donations from well-wishers to the country’s sacred temples via a mobile phone.

Launched on Poson Poya, the tech-savvy service will enable devotees to make donations to some of the most renowned historic temples in the North Central Province such as the Jaya Siri Maha Bodhiya and Ruwanwelisaaya in Anuradhapura, and the Somawathi Maha Viharaya and Dimbulagala Maha Viharaya in Polonnaruwa.

Mobitel customers could make a donation by dialing #111# on a mCash registered mobile phone, and by selecting the ‘Pay Institutes’ option followed by ‘Donations’ to utilise the valuable service.


The mobile donations solution provides customers the rare opportunity to acquire immediate access to make a contribution to a sacred temple.


Once the donation is confirmed, a notification would be automatically delivered via SMS.
