Nearly 100 new mothers, from low income group families at Talangama Base Hospital were gifted with a “new baby” maternity kits from the Rotabats – a pseudonym for members of the Rotary club of Battaramulla recently.

This valuable project was conceptualized by Kumudu Megasooriya, an active member and treasurer of the Rotary Club who has led from the front & secure required funds from RC Essendon through a Sri Lankan/Australian Rotarian of the club.

Mother & Baby essentials such as Rubber sheet, Bed jackets, Chintz cloths, Baby sheets, Napkins, Baby blankets, Baby towel, Baby dress & Baby going-home outfit all packed into a lovely utility bag which can be carried anywhere, especially to the regular clinics where there are long waiting lines & limited space.

The club hopes to continue the project on a regular basis and have selected many such needy communities.

Already planned has the next location is the base hospital in Dambulla with the support of WURTH who has offered to donate 50 maternity bags, while another 60 bags are donated by Rotabat members and their well-wishers at a total value of LKR. 550,000/=)
