The Multiversity campus, opened in 2023, is an extension of IIHS’s long-standing presence in healthcare and higher education.
Founded over two decades ago, the institute has focused on nursing, biomedical sciences, and allied health fields.
The new campus was introduced to provide a dedicated space for academic and professional development, with upgraded infrastructure and more space for student engagement.
Over the past two years, the campus has become a busy space for learning and interaction.
Lecture halls, group study areas, and shared spaces are regularly used by a growing student body.
IIHS has also introduced new teaching approaches during this period, aimed at keeping pace with global standards in healthcare education.
Campus life has included a mix of academic work and extracurricular activities.
Cultural events such as Avurudu celebrations have brought together the IIHS community for traditional games, food, and music.
Students and staff have taken the lead in organising a range of other events, including talent shows, charity efforts, and awareness programmes.
The rooftop space, which has become a favourite gathering spot, has hosted many of these informal and festive activities.
In the past year, IIHS also announced a partnership with the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.
Through this collaboration, students now have the opportunity to follow new academic pathways and gain more international exposure in their fields.
The institute has also continued offering scholarships, mentoring, and career guidance to support student development.
Under its future plans, the campus aims to expand programmes in emerging fields, to invest in research and innovation through collaborative projects and labs, to support students through scholarships, career development, and personal growth, and to build a stronger global network to ensure every student graduates with a world-class education and a global outlook.
Their goal is to offer a well-rounded learning experience that prepares students for work in healthcare both locally and internationally.
At the anniversary celebration, the institute thanked its students, educators, alumni, and academic partners who have been part of the campus journey so far.
“IIHS has always been driven by a mission to empower students with knowledge, skills, and global values.
The opening of the Multiversity marked a step towards offering a purpose-built environment to foster a globally relevant, innovative, and holistic academic experience.
It has since evolved into a dynamic academic and cultural hub.
With world-class facilities, modern infrastructure, and collaborative spaces, it has redefined how students engage with learning and with each other.” said IIHS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe.
