SLIIT to host Annual Partner University Day on 26th September

With 20 foreign university affiliations from UK, Australia, U.S.A, and Canada, SLIIT, the premier degree awarding institute, together with their foreign partners, will host the annual SLIIT Partner University Day on the 26th of September at the SLIIT campus in Malabe from 8.30am to 5.00pm.

The Partner University day will be held for current and prospective students along with their parents to witness and understand SLIIT's foreign academic programmes, foreign university transfer options, scholarships and facilities geared to bring out the best in each student.

“SLIIT with its foreign universities has carved out numerous pathways for students to complete their degree at SLIIT or transfer to the respective partner university after two years of study at SLIIT. The partner universities are high in rank, internationally focused and deliver high quality education” noted Professor Lalith Gamage, President and CEO of SLIIT.

The list of partner universities affiliated with SLIIT, provides a range of options for students studying Computing, Business and Engineering to consider when transferring abroad. Students can transfer to Universities in Australia; Curtin, Swinburne, Deakin, RMIT, QUT, UTAS, Newcastle and La Trobe, Universities in U.K; Sheffield Hallam, Aston, Nottingham, Loughborough, Tesside, University of Huddersfield, University of Surrey and De Montfort University, Universities in Canada; Memorial and Algoma University and three prestigious Universities in USA; Southeast Missouri State University, Illinois State and University of Cincinnati.

Australian Partner Universities of SLIIT

Students interested in studying in Australia, can transfer to a variety of prestigious universities. Curtin University, the largest university in Western Australia is ranked 25th in the QS World University rankings in 2013/2014 for universities under the age of 50. The University of Newcastle, a progressive, dynamic institution, ranked among the top three percent of the world's universities, according to both the Times Higher Education World University and QS World University Rankings.

The University of Tasmania is one of Australia’s oldest universities and ranked number one in Australia for teaching excellence. RMIT, the largest Multi Sector University in Australia, is a recognized leader in architecture, building and design, creative arts, communications, engineering and IT. Deakin University has been awarded a QS 5 Star Rating for Excellence in 2013, cementing its reputation as a world-class university.

Another leading school, Queensland University of Technology, offers a high quality learning, teaching and research place for students. Swinburne University's close tie with industry experts provide students with immense opportunities as well as a work placement Industry-based Learning program for invaluable business and workplace experiences during the course period.

Canadian Partner Universities of SLIIT

Students interested in pursuing studies in Canada, can transfer to Memorial University, one of the top five comprehensive universities in Canada, where its Faculty of Business Administration is also accredited with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which is the highest distinction a business school can be granted. Algoma University, a comparatively smaller university giving excellent education on one-on-one basis for every student, offers accelerated degree programs for SLIIT students.


UK Partner Universities of SLIIT 


Students can transfer to Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), ranked in UK for its teaching quality and student learning experience, has maintained a strong partnership with SLIIT for over a decade. Loughborough University, ranked in the top 20 of UK universities, offer courses that are career-enhancing with year-long work placement in business, industry and commerce. Aston University is a long established research-led facility, currently ranked in 8th place for graduate employment, as per Sunday Times University Guide 2013, making it a leading university in terms of graduate employment for over 25 years.


The University of Nottingham, an acclaimed world-class university, is ranked in the top 1 per cent of all universities worldwide. Consistently ranked among the UK's top universities for graduate employment, Robert Gordon University is a dynamic, modern place to study with an international reputation for providing high quality education from undergraduate through to PhD level.

Teesside University is ranked in UK for overall average international student satisfaction (International Student Barometer 2013). The University of Surrey, ranked 6th in the UK by The Guardian League Table 2015, is regarded as one of the UK’s leading research universities with a global reputation for academic excellence.

USA Partner Universities of SLIIT

Southeast Missouri State University (USA), where scholarships and need-based grants are available, is considered one of the best and most affordable universities in the Midwest.

Illinois State University, climbed in U.S. News & World Report’s 2013 rankings of the top public universities in the country. The university’s high graduation rate (71.5 percent) is among the top 10 percent of all schools in U.S.

For students considering the option of following a foreign degree, studying at SLIIT for the 1st and 2nd years will provide a platform for preparing themselves before transferring to the final year of studies at their university of choice.
