Starting bright and early at Mount Lavinia, “Beach Cleaning Day” was a joint effort carried out in collaboration with environmental organisations Clean Ocean Force and Wana Arana as well as the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA), the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), and Sri Lanka Police.
Commenting on the success of the event, C.W. Mackie PLC Chairman Mr. Hemaka Amarasuriya noted:

In the last few years alone, Sri Lanka has faced multiple incidents of marine and beach pollution, putting both marine and human life at grave risk.
This has resulted in the importance of corporations collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organisations for long-term marine conservation initiatives increasing rapidly.

The Sixfold Sustainable Model covers key areas of PET Collection and Recycling, Conserving Water, Glass Water Bottle Project, ISO 14001:2015 Certified Plant, Green Reporting, and Marine Pollution Prevention.
Earlier this year, the company launched the “Recycle for Future Generation” EPR initiative, under the Sixfold Sustainable Model, focusing on collecting and recycling empty PET bottles in partnership with Eco Spindles (Pvt) Ltd., a pioneer in plastic recycling in Sri Lanka.
The company also voluntarily engaged in Green Reporting and registered for the National Green Reporting System with the Ministry of Environment to communicate information on their sustainability initiatives and performances.
