70000 families receive free milk powder through the National Integrated Mechanism for Food Security and Nutrition contributed by Fonterra

Businesscafe - The ‘National Integrated Mechanism for Food Security and Nutrition’ set up under the patronage of his Excellency the President completed an initiative to provide 70,000 vulnerable families with milk powder worth Rs174 million, contributed by Fonterra.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Batagoda, Chairman & Advisor of the presidential committee on national food security stated that “The Vision of the food security program of the government is to ensure every citizen has access to nutrition.


This initiative is aimed at bridging this gap with the most vulnerable families.


We thank Fonterra, for coming forward to help us achieve this at this time of need”


As a responsible corporate citizen committed to doing what’s right, Fonterra continues to do its best to provide high-quality dairy nutrition to Sri Lankans.


This initiative is another milestone in a long tradition of community service the company has embarked on over the last 40 years.


The milk powder were delivered to 70,000 vulnerable families across the country, identified by the task force and delivered via the District Secretariats.
