All set for Sri Lanka Junior International Series 2025 at Naiwala from August 5th

Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) has made all arrangements in place to host the Sri Lanka Junior International Series 2025, which will be held between August 5th and 8th at the New Saniro Sports Complex in Naiwala, Gampaha.

The four-day grand international competition, is expected to draw a large number young and aspiring shuttlers from all parts of the world to Sri Lanka, as the island nation will host international stars from across the world under one roof.

The organisers, Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB), have already received an overwhelming number of entries from leading badminton-playing countries, including Sri Lanka, as the six-day competition is expected to showpiece the country’s capability in hosting an event of high interest and magnitude.

“Hosting our first-ever Junior International Series is a proud moment for Sri Lanka Badminton, as it marks a significant milestone for the sport in the country.


This high-scale international event will surely provide an excellent opportunity for our very own young players to gain valuable international exposure.

The event, sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Asia (BA) includes competitions for shuttlers of the age categories of Under-19, Under-17, Under-15 and Under-13.


The vast number of shuttlers will compete under Boy’s and Girl’s in Singles as well as Doubles in Boys’, Girls’ and Mixed categories.


The entire tournament will be conducted in accordance to the BWF Laws of Badminton.

The competition will officially take off at the eight-court New Saniro Sports Complex with the preliminary round matches on August 5th.


The competition will proceed with the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and the finals of all age categories are slated for August 8th followed by the awards ceremony.

In addition to being a high-profile international competition, the event will serve of highly importance for young and aspiring local shuttlers, who will get to compete against top international talent and experience elite-level match-play.


The event will also serve as a competition that evaluates BWF Ranking points, which in return would give the local talents gain international exposure and recognition.

The prestigious Sri Lanka Junior International Series 2025 is the result of cohesive efforts of SLB officials including President Roshan Gunawardena, Secretary Ajith Wijeyasinghe, Tournament Committee Chairman Dinesh Jayawardena, Organising Committee Chairman Rohan de Silva, Tournament Director P.P.S.R. de Silva and Jaliya Jayasekara, the Organising Committee Secretary.


Mohammad Shamim Hasan of Bangladesh will be the Referee for the competition while Sri Lanka’s Sanjeewa Wijesekara and Chathuranga Vishwanath will serve as Deputy Referees.
