This is the first time Sri Lanka will field such a large and diverse group of athletes on a professional league platform, reflecting the rapid growth and rising competitiveness of powerlifting in the country.
This year’s Sri Lankan contingent includes 1 junior athlete, 4 female lifters, and 10 male competitors, representing the country across five divisions : Open Men, Open Women, Masters Men, Masters Women, and Junior.
Together, they reflect the depth of talent emerging across all age groups in Sri Lankan strength sports.
The championship is expected to draw leading professional lifters from over 20 countries, creating one of the most competitive stages in international powerlifting.
For Sri Lanka, it represents the most diverse team the country has ever fielded on a professional league stage that unites powerlifting, bodybuilding, arm wrestling, and fitness under one global event.
Their participation underscores the increasing visibility of Sri Lankan strength athletes and the growing interest in the sport nationwide.
“This team showcases the entire powerlifting spectrum in Sri Lanka, from rising juniors to battle-tested masters,” said Coach Mothilal Jayathilake.
“Their drive, grit, and strength show just how far the sport has come in our country, and how far we’re ready to go”.
The representing team has undertaken intensive training and preparation to compete alongside the world’s best.
Their presence on the international stage reflects both individual excellence and Sri Lanka’s broader ambition to strengthen its position in global strength sports.
