Peace Incubator 2020


Peace Incubators a platform to train youth with knowledge and skills that spearhead youth-led initiatives geared towards creating communal harmony among their communities.

Peace Incubator is an inclusive space to share and empower young people with knowledge and tools for social cohesion.

IYAP (International Youth Alliance for Peace) with the support of The USAID- SCORE conducted the 1st Peace Incubator workshop in the Jaffna district from the 29th of August to 1st September 2020.

This Workshop was conducted by a young and enthusiastic Media trainer Mr Danni Dishon.


The 12 selected participants were trained on ground-based advocacy efforts and how to create and a network of youth to deliver impactful initiatives in their communities on Social Cohesion which they can showcase to the community and beyond.

The Jaffna district comprised of participants of all different religions, cast and creed.


The participants were provided valuable insight on how to actively march towards achieving peace and social Cohesion.

During the 4 day workshop the participants were mainly trained on Leadership, Social Cohesion, critical thinking and analyzing issues, Reconciliation, Peace, Justice, Digital Storytelling, Movie making, photography, video editing, creating YouTube channels, discussions and presentation, video editing, case studies and revenue earning.

Mr. Thirukumar Premakumar, founder and Executive Director talking on the partnership and the program, “We talk a lot about hope and reconciliation, for this we need collaboration with the youth to strengthen social cohesion through the proper understanding of the dynamics of unity, and country to remain united”

The peace incubator program will run for a span of period of 6 months which shall include more workshops and gatherings in the Jaffna & Kandy District.


The main aim is to create a network with the Kandy Participants and working towards attaining the end goal of the project; by bringing Youth voices from diverse communities in an effort to create communal harmony itself creates Social Cohesion.
