The award ceremony was recently held at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Industries and Health Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, the State Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Prasanna Ranaweera and several others.
Established in 1995, Southern Ceramics is led by its three Directors, Prasad Narathota, Shanuka Narathota and Muthuli Mendis.
The company is well known both locally and internationally for their fine ceramic products such as mugs, jugs, cups and sanitary ware, ornaments and ceramic printing work.
Being the only ceramic manufacturing company located in the Hambantoa District, Southern Ceramics has provided more than 50 employment opportunities by present.
Southern Ceramics has previously been honoured with several local and international awards including the Best Entrepreneur Awards in the years 2001, 2002, and 2003 under the industrial manufacturing and light engineering category at award ceremonies organised by the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) in collaboration with the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC), and supported by the Chambers of Commerce in Galle and Matara.
In addition, they became the Provincial Winner (2nd) in minerals and allied industries category (small scale) at the National Industry Excellence Awards 2022.
