Her entrepreneurial journey began after accumulating extensive experience in the interior design industry with leading companies in Sri Lanka.
Motivated by a desire to provide superior service to clients and elevate industry standards, she founded DM Interior Studio.
From the outset, Mendis has been committed to implementing best corporate practices at DM Interior Studio, significantly enhancing the client experience and establishing her company as the preferred choice for many.
Mendis's entrepreneurship is also about empowering talent and turning the concept of women empowerment into reality within her company.
She values constructive criticism and believes in maintaining an open mind, which helps her and her team make well-informed decisions, staying ahead of the competition.
DM Interior Studio is currently working on several major projects, including a boutique hotel in Mirissa, a five-star hotel in Negombo, and an office complex in Colombo.
Mendis hopes to inspire more women to pursue careers in interior design, emphasising the importance of passion, continuous learning, and an eye for detail.
"Balancing professional and personal life, especially with three children, was a significant challenge.
However, with the support of my family, including my husband Chinthaka Dayaratne and brother Chamara Mendis, I launched DM Interior Studio.
Today, we create unique furniture pieces tailored to each project, whether residential, retail, or office. It is they and my team who are behind this achievement," said Mendis.
