The CSE provides desktops to rural schools

Businesscafe - The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) recently provided 43 desktops to selected rural schools across the country under the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign, to improve financial literacy among Sri Lankan students.

The initiative was to provide necessary access to Sri Lankan youth, to improve financial literacy.


The schools have been selected by the eight respective CSE branches located in Kandy, Anuradhapura, Ratnapura, Ambalantota, Matara, Jaffna, Negombo and Kurunegala.


The selected schools were C/P Sri Devananda College, Minipe,J/Anaicoddai R.C.T.M School, Jaffna, MR/ Arankahadeniya K V, Urugamuwa, M/Helagama Kanishta Widyalaya, Monaragala,Mahadewulwewa Maha Vidyalaya, Madavachchiya,Ng/Kodagammulla K.V Demanhandiya,Pragnagnadeera Vidyalaya, Kahawatte and Naramana Walagamba Widyalaya, Nikaweratiya.

The initiative also supported the schools to develop a computer laboratory in the school premises including painting, color washing and wiring the same.

Commenting on the campaign, the CSE CEO said,


“The CSE’s CSR projects focus on giving a helping hand to different social segments in the society.


By donating desktops to rural schools, the CSE wishes to be a facilitator and assist students to improve access to financial information.

He also stated, “The youth in a country is an invaluable asset, as they are the future leaders and helping them to gain financial literacy is an investment for the future.”

The initiative has also received a positive feedback from the school principals, parents and the students.
