TNS Research confirms ikman.lk as ‘the most popular marketplace’ for the second consecutive year

ikman.lk has been confirmed as Sri Lanka’s most popular online marketplace once again in a recent island wide qualitative survey conducted by TNS, a world leader in customized research.

This endorsement is a testament to the fact that ikman.lk has established its brand name as the countries go to source for buying and selling almost anything.

The qualitative research was undertaken for the second consecutive year with the objective of gauging awareness levels of ikman.lk and to assess its position or the use of the site for buying and selling when compared to other trading competitors, both traditional and online.

In order to achieve a national level result the survey comprehensively covered all districts in the country, which included a representative sample size of both male and female who connected to the internet at least once a week from any location using any devise.

The primary objectives of the research was assessed on the six main categories of ikman.lk; namely, used cars& vehicles, electronics, house & property, jobs and services, home and personal items, and leisure sports and hobbies.

Among the interesting outcomes of the research was the finding that more Sri Lankans are now connecting to online through their mobile devices – 72% in 2014 compared with 61% in 2013, leading to a drop in the use of desktops and laptops to connect online.

This figure is consistent with visitors to ikman.lk as 2/3 of traffic to ikman.lk is through mobile devices.

ikman.lk successfully retained its top of mind awareness for buying and selling across all categories under consideration over other online and traditional options.

When compared with the research results of 2014. Jobs and Services saw a notable shift from number 3 top of mind awareness position in 2014 to top position in 2015.

Ikman.lk is the single most visited commercial website in Sri Lanka, enjoying approximately 3 million unique visitors per month at present, compared with 600,000 when it launched in 2012.

The numbers are a reflection of the commitment of ikman.lk in being the leading online market place in Sri Lanka, creating sustainable value for the community.
