SC Jaffna Kings build powerful squad core ahead of Lanka Premier League Season 6

SC Jaffna Kings have assembled a strong and balanced squad ahead of Lanka Premier League Season 6, bringing together proven Sri Lankan talent, experienced international performers and high-impact associate representation.

The franchise enters the new season with Bhanuka Rajapaksa as its Local Icon, giving the side a powerful left-handed batting option with experience in pressure situations.

Known for his ability to change the tempo of a T20 innings, Rajapaksa is expected to play a central role in shaping the team’s batting approach.

The overseas leadership of the squad will be anchored by Shakib Al Hasan, named as the Overseas Icon.

One of world cricket’s most experienced all-rounders, Shakib brings depth with both bat and ball, along with significant international and franchise cricket experience.

His presence adds balance, tactical maturity and proven match-winning ability to the Jaffna Kings set-up.

SC Jaffna Kings have also secured Dunith Wellalage as their Local Star, further strengthening the squad’s all-round options.

Wellalage’s left-arm spin, batting ability and growing international exposure make him one of the most valuable young Sri Lankan players in the tournament.

Alongside him, Taskin Ahmed, the franchise’s Overseas Star, brings pace, aggression and wicket-taking ability to the fast-bowling unit.

The squad is further strengthened by Avishka Fernando, named as the Local Platinum Player, adding top-order firepower and international experience.

David Wiese, the Overseas Platinum Player, brings finishing ability, medium-pace options and extensive global T20 experience, while Dipendra Singh Airee, the Associate Star, adds another dynamic all-round option to the squad.

The wider player group also includes strong local depth through Nishan Madushka, Nuwanidu Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka, Kamil Mishara and Chamindu Wickramasinghe, giving SC Jaffna Kings a useful mix of batting depth, left-arm pace, emerging talent and flexible middle-order options.
