Effectively moulding students to take on the corporate world for over a decade, SLIIT celebrates 15 years of academic excellence, recording an impressive growth in student population, academic programmes and prestigious foreign university partnerships.

Affirming its status as the leading degree awarding institute in the fields of IT, Business and Engineering, SLIIT was ranked by LMD as the number one institute in Higher Education in 2013.

The cornerstone of SLIIT's success has been attributed to its uncompromising commitment to maintaining high academic standards, a high level of discipline and engagement in extra curricular activities among students. Upbeat on the 15 years of excellence, Lalith Gamage, President and CEO of SLIIT noted, “We started in 1999, with just 360 students, to gain an edge in the IT sector. Now, SLIIT has grown exponentially from an operation at the BOC Merchant Tower building to a multi campus university with over 6,000 students. Over the past 15 years we have commenced new academic programmes, introduced over 20 foreign partnerships, increased the facilities and strengthened our staff to suit the increasing demand in the higher education sector. With a bright future ahead of Sri Lanka, our goal is to make Sri Lanka an education hub, which will not only attract more local students but also attract many more international students”.

All the programmes offered at SLIIT are industry oriented, which provide students with an insight to the industry. Students are also offered enhanced support in career guidance to help them find internships and employment. Due to SLIIT's prestigious foreign university and industry ties, students are sought after by leading companies within a period of one year after graduation.

SLIIT has two state of the art campuses in Malabe and Colombo 03 and four established centres in Matara, Kandy, Jaffna and Kurunegala. The campus in Malabe, is situated on a 25 acre land, overlooking the hills of the mid country.
