SriLankan and PIM join hands to empower the national carrier’s future leaders

SriLankan Airlines, together with Postgraduate Institute of Management held a special two-day management, leadership knowledge and skills development programme for the managers of the national carrier who are identified for their potential to shoulder expanded job responsibilities and higher managerial positions in the organization.

The facilitators, Dr. Travis Perera, Dr.AjanthaDharmasiri and Prof. Uditha Liyanage conducted sessions for 30 selected managers of the Airline on decision-making and problem solving skills, leadership management, strategic management-planning and execution of competitive advantage, anatomy of leadership, leadership challenges, emotional intelligence and subordinate development.

Commenting on the programme, Prof. Uditha Liyanage said, “All managers are people managers. They manage people and the tasks performed by them. Some managers are leaders as well because they not only manage people but lead them and influence them. PIM is happy that it has been able to share key concepts of leadership and discuss how they can be applied in real life situations with a key group of personnel at Sri Lankan Airlines.”

SriLankan Airlines, Head of Human Resources Mr. Pradeepa Kekulawala said, “SriLankan Airlines takes pride in its human resource and we believe that sharpening the strengths of our employees is the key to success. This programme is aimed at imparting current knowledge and thinking of the subjects chosen for the participants to be well-grounded in principles that influence practice. ”

SriLankan, which has a multifaceted global workforce, believes in skills development and leadership management thereby enhancing productivity in order to achieve the set targets and goals. The programme has been customised extensively in order to improve modern management skills and soft skills, which are vital for organisational growth and the way forward.

This programme is a part of a structured and futuristic talent and leadership development programme aimed at business continuity.
