Rosh Kumarasinghe, founder of Beauty by Rosh, returned to London Fashion Week this season as the creative force behind the makeup for Yuhan Ao's Spring/Summer 2027 show, serving as both Makeup Director and Official Makeup Sponsor of the show.
This marks another milestone for the Australian-made, vegan and cruelty-free beauty brand, which has built a growing track record at fashion weeks around the world, including previous partnerships with main schedule shows at London Fashion Week and at Australian Fashion Week just this year.
For the Yuhan Ao show, Rosh was the Makeup Director behind the makeup look, working closely with the designer and stylist to ensure the story they wanted to convey to the audience was carried through in the beauty direction, not just the garments.
Ahead of the show, she led a dedicated makeup test with the designer to develop and finalise the artistic direction, before bringing in her own team of backstage makeup artists to bring the vision to life on show day.
The direction Rosh developed was modern, with a lived-in, romantic yet edgy sensibility.
The hero product of the look was the Beauty by Rosh black Mantra eyeliner, delivering rich drama, paired with a metallic gunmetal eyeshadow that appeared to fall away from the lower lash line for an undone, smoked-out finish.
For the male models, the direction shifted to a considered no-makeup-makeup look — a light touch of foundation, brushed-up brows, a cool-toned contour, and a sheen of vaseline on the lips — keeping the styling natural while still polished for the runway.
Backstage, the energy was one of focus and collaboration, with the full Beauty by Rosh UK team working in sync to bring each model's look to life ahead of the show.
Kumarasinghe's role extended beyond the creative direction of the makeup itself, overseeing her team of artists through the process from trial to final touch-ups before the models stepped onto the runway.
After her hard work backstage, Rosh later took her seat on the front row to watch her team's work come down the runway, joined by her special guest invitee, Yehali Sangakkara.
Makeup direction at major fashion weeks is a highly specialised role, reserved for a small number of seasoned artists who have spent years working within the circuit.
Each show has its own makeup and hair directors, who work directly with the designer to develop the vision for that collection — a position Rosh has built with her work across London and Australian Fashion Week.
Beauty by Rosh also served as the Official Makeup Sponsor for the show, with the backstage team of makeup artists working under Rosh using Beauty by Rosh products to create every look.
Earlier this year, Beauty by Rosh became the first Australian makeup brand to partner with a London Fashion Week main schedule show, a milestone the brand has continued to build on this season.
Rosh was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease — Seropositive Inflammatory Rheumatoid Arthritis — and has been struggling health-wise, but it hasn't stopped this entrepreneur from achieving her goals on the global stage.
Rosh is no stranger to adversity, and she has always been vocal about her decade-long abusive marriage, struggles with weight, and the sudden loss of her mother.
This new challenge only shows her resilience as she continues to stride forward, and she wants to set an example that one can still achieve their dreams regardless of the obstacles and challenges along the way.
Rosh is the first South Asian beauty entrepreneur to sponsor main schedule shows at London Fashion Week — not merely having her brand backstage, working backstage, or being in makeup artists' kits, but through official, signed contract sponsorships, a milestone she achieved earlier this year in February for the AW26 season.
She is also the first Sri Lankan to hold the position of Makeup Director at both London Fashion Week and Australian Fashion Week.
