She was presented with the Young Executive of the Year award at the 7th Asia Trusted Life Agents and Advisers Awards 2022 held on July 26th, becoming the only winner from Sri Lanka.
Vindya has an illustrious career, having steadily risen up the corporate ladder over the years.
She started off in 2013 at John Keells Holdings (JKH), where she became the youngest individual to be appointed as a sector financial controller at the age of 29.
She was soon promoted to Vice President, Finance, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, JKH Leisure sector.
Vindya became the Chief Bancassurance Officer of Union Assurance in mid-2021.
She played a notable role in guiding Union Assurance to become the leading Bancassurance provider in the country, surpassing Rs.1 billion ANBP in 2021.
In line with the Company’s mission to empower the Sri Lankan dream, she negotiated several bancassurance partnerships consolidating the market positioning as the number one bancassurance provider in the country whilst securing a footprint of over 600 branches.
Under her leadership, the Bancassurance partnerships produced 67 MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) members, including 10 Court of the Table qualifiers and 2 Top of the Table qualifiers.
Furthermore, she launched the best-in-class rewards and recognition platform for the bancassurance sales force - Circle of Excellence.
She helped in revamping the digital channel of Union Assurance and activated it not only as a sales tool but also as a lifestyle app, enhancing the customer experience.
Vindya is passionate about inspiring individuals to achieve their full potential, with a focus on youth empowerment and gender equality.
She has led work-life balance initiatives and is regarded as a highly successful teambuilder.
Vindya was a core team leader of the ONEJKH – JKH Group DE&I (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiative which won the JKH Chairmans award.
She is also the recipient of the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Award, and has been bestowed with the Vanithabhimana National Award in 2021 in the Corporate Sector.
The Vanithabhimana initiative recognizes female achievers who are breaking new ground and contributing to the local economy.
Professionally, she is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having ranked first in the island at the final exam, and possesses several academic and professional qualifications.
