APHNH unites Sri Lanka s private hospitals under the theme Beyond Competition Future Through Partnerships

The Association of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes of Sri Lanka (APHNH), the recognized representative body of the nation’s private healthcare sector, successfully hosted its first-ever national gathering recently, under the theme “Beyond Competition – Future Through Partnerships” with the participation of over 150 representatives from private hospitals across the country at the Waters Edge.

Welcoming the participants, Mr. Raveen Wickramasinghe, President of APHNH, emphasized the pivotal role played by the private health sector, which provides 55% of outpatient care and 5% of inpatient care in Sri Lanka.


He stressed the importance of unity within the sector to elevate national healthcare standards in collaboration with the public health system.


A central feature of the event was a panel discussion where senior members of the APHNH Governing Council Dr. Ananda Kuruppu Arachchi (Past President), Dr. Sandamali Weerasinghe (Hony. Secretary), Dr. Vibash Wijeratne (Vice President), and Mr. Mahanil Perera (Vice President) shared their insights on regulatory matters, industry trends, and the evolving role of APHNH in partnership with the Private Health Services Regulatory Council (PHSRC).


The discussion was moderated by Mr. Nishantha Jayamanne (Hony. Assistant Secretary), underscored the Association’s commitment to driving collaboration and strengthening the sector’s contribution to national healthcare.


The gathering also marked the launch of APHNH’s official website, www.aphnh.com, designed to serve as a central platform for communication, advocacy, and knowledge-sharing among members.


In addition, a felicitation ceremony honored past presidents Prof. Lal Chandrasena, Dr. Lakith Peiris, Dr. Ananda Kuruppu Arachchi, and Dr. Ruwan Senathilaka in recognition of their dedicated service to the Association and the private healthcare sector.


Delivering the Vote of Thanks, Dr. Chatura Weerasinghe, Treasurer of APHNH, highlighted the enthusiasm of private hospitals from across the island in rallying behind APHNH’s mission to unite the industry and uplift standards.


The event concluded with a fellowship dinner that fostered stronger ties among private healthcare leaders.
