AIA Sri Lanka is truly a safe and rewarding workplace for women

Businesscafe - AIA Insurance is proud to have been recognized as one of the ‘Best Workplaces for Women’ in Sri Lanka for the fourth consecutive year in 2021 by the independent analysts at Great Place to Work® in Sri Lanka.

AIA Sri Lanka was also acknowledged by another awarding body for its efforts in creating a safe working environment for women.

The company was recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s top 10 Women Friendly Workplaces in 2021 by Satynmag.com and CIMA Sri Lanka.

This unique award recognizes corporate and state-owned organizations that encourage and empower women at the workplace.

AIA’s Chief Executive Officer Nikhil Advani commented

“we are extremely proud to demonstrate growing levels of gender diversity and inclusion at all levels at AIA, including women at senior level and leadership teams.

Our employees are our greatest asset, and we are committed to foster a culture that embraces diversity and gender equality.

These recognitions motivate us further to set our ambitions even higher and see greater engagement of women for successful business performance.”

AIA’s Director HR - Thushari Perera notes that “consistently been recognised as a great workplace for women speaks volumes of our commitment to creating an inclusive culture where diversity is celebrated, and zero-tolerance for discrimination or harassment in any form, across all aspects of diversity, including gender, race, nationality and sexual orientation.

Therefore, we place significant emphasis on creating a work environment where everyone has a fair opportunity to learn, grow and fulfill their career dreams as competent professionals.

She added, “The pandemic was disproportionately hard on working women, with the requirement to balance both their household work and workplace responsibilities at the same time.

AIA recognised those challenges at the very beginning and made conscious and active efforts to ensure additional sensitivity and care for our female workforce.

We organized a series of sessions to empower all women at AIA and ensure that they have a work environment that provides opportunity and flexibility to manage work within family circumstances, where such support is needed the most.

Whether teams are working apart or together, hybrid or remote, inclusivity drives innovation and this recognition is a testament to the priority we place on fostering an equitable culture for our employees, amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic.”
