Intending to bring together talented jewellery designers from around the Island, the competition encouraged entrants to celebrate the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Sri Lanka through design.
The first round of judging of the designs took place recently in the presence of an eminent judging panel comprising of Mrs Indira Malwatte the current COO of Jagro and former Chairperson of the EDB as well as leading fashion designers Sonali Dharmawardena and Dinesh Chandrasena alongside Ali Suhail representing the jewellery industry on behalf of the association.
After a comprehensive evaluation of all the submissions by the judging panel, ten final designs were selected to be manufactured by the competition sponsors after which a second and final round of judging will take place later on this year to decide on the three winning designs.
Following this, a special awards ceremony will also be held to showcase the beautiful jewellery designs and announce the winning designers.
