MAS Holdings launches Plan for Change 2030

South Asia’s largest apparel-tech conglomerate, MAS Holdings, launched its Plan for Change 2030 at a special event held at Cinnamon Life, Colombo on 09 October 2025.

The launch marks an important new chapter in the company’s sustainability journey, outlining an ambitious roadmap to reshape the future of apparel through measurable commitments across Product, Lives, and Planet.

The event featured a keynote address by Brooke Roberts-Islam, a London-based journalist, author, consultant, and sustainability advocate - who covers innovation for Forbes and Business of Fashion.

Brooke also moderated a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring
Supun Weerasinghe, Group Chief Executive Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC; Shay Sethi, CEO and Co-founder, Ambercycle; Nemanthie Kooragamage, Director – Group Sustainable Business at MAS Holdings; and Takafumi Kadono, Country Director – Asian Development Bank.

In her address, Brooke spoke of the vitality of leadership in driving sustainability, while the panel explored the real opportunities and pitfalls of executing sustainability strategies in the business world, sharing insights and learnings from each sector.

Building on the success of the company's performance against its 2025 targets, the Plan for Change 2030 marks MAS’ next step in embedding sustainability across its business operations and value chain.

It extends the company’s progress in key areas, including investments into circularity through partnerships with
HeiQ AeoniQ™ and Ambercycle, the restoration of over 25,000 acres of biodiversity, and the approval of its near-term emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), alongside a commitment to achieve net zero by 2048.

Through this next phase, MAS is introducing new benchmarks that deepen its impact across every part of the business.

The plan targets 75% of company revenue to be generated from sustainable products by 2030, supported by continued investment in circular design, next-generation materials, and regeneratively grown natural
fibres.

With women comprising 70% of the workforce, MAS is also expanding initiatives that strengthen fair care policies, promote holistic wellbeing, and build resilient communities through education, livelihoods, and inclusion.

On the environmental front, the company is working towards an 80% reduction in absolute greenhouse gases across operations and a 46.2% reduction in Scope 3 emissions (from a 2019 baseline) by 2030, while advancing water stewardship, circular waste management, and ecosystem regeneration across its global footprint.

Commenting on the growing significance of Plan for Change, MAS Holdings, Chief Executive Officer Suren Fernando said:

“Our long-term success has always been built on the belief that doing what is right for people and the planet is also right for business.

The MAS Plan for Change 2030 reinforces that conviction, setting a clear direction for how we will continue to grow responsibly while shaping a more sustainable future for the apparel industry.”

Director, Group Sustainable Business at MAS Holdings, Nemanthie Kooragamage added:

“The Plan for Change 2030 defines how we translate ambition into measurable outcomes.

It deepens MAS’s commitment to circularity, sustainable materials, and social equity, embedding these principles into every aspect of our operations.

This plan will ensure that our environmental goals are directly aligned with business performance, transforming the way we design products, empower our people, and positively impact the communities we serve.

By connecting innovation with responsibility, we’re positioning sustainability as the core of MAS’s growth for the next decade.”

As the industry faces increasing challenges, MAS is committed to building a more resilient future through its Plan for Change 2030.

With a focus on accelerating circularity, responsible materials, and social impact, the company is preparing to meet the evolving needs of the market while leading the charge for a more sustainable and equitable apparel industry.
