Hemas Hospitals multi-chain supersedes Health care Industry with full Re- accreditation with Australian Council Health Standards International

Hemas Hospitals, a market leader in healthcare, was recently awarded full re-accreditation for another 4 years, of the highly esteemed Australian Council of Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI).

The gold standard in healthcare, now in its second cycle, confirms the hospital’s outstanding clinical outcomes as well as its commitment to maintaining high quality patient care through stringent adherence to processes and controls, in par with international standards, from the moment the patient enters hospital and until discharged.

All three Hemas Hospitals are now internationally accredited with Thalawathugoda, the youngest member of the chain achieving accredited status whilst Wattala and Galle hospitals were being re-accredited after the 4 year cycle.

The top honour reflects the Group’s vision as being ‘best in class’.

Their advanced healthcare and uncompromising compliance to the accredited processes and controls help the hospitals stay ahead in terms of patient safety.

Hemas Hospitals are the only multi-chain in Sri Lanka to have an international accreditation with ACHSI, with audit for re-accreditation being far more stringent and meticulous.

Managing Director Hemas Hospitals, Dr Lakith Peiris said that the prestigious accreditation confers an extra level of distinction to the overall standards at Hemas Hospitals.

“Patient safety and trust is at the core of our mission and we will go all out to ensure that our services benefit our patients.

The ACHSI accreditation underscores our affirmation in providing the highest quality care to the patients”.

The globally recognized standard, evaluates excellence at every touch point of services, starting with admission at reception to clinical, examination, diagnosis and medical care by the entire team from Consultants to nurses.

The tough audit and stringent accreditation assures safety and performance, encompassing products, people, facilities and supply chains through verification, assessment, training and services to create superior stakeholder and customer trust.

“As a member of ACHSI, we have a commitment to patient care and service delivery and recognize the need for continuing quality improvement” explained Dr Peiris who went on to note that commitment to benchmarking with and maintaining international standards of clinical management and clinical governance have provided many tangible benefits to patients and staff.

The principles upon which the ACHSI programmes are developed reflect the characteristics displayed by an ‘improving organisation’ including consumer focus, effective leadership, continuous improvement, evidence of outcome and striving for best practice.
