MAS Active Asialine becomes Sri Lanka first manufacturing facility to obtain the trio of GRS GOTS and RWS certifications

Businesscafe - In line with their ongoing sustainability efforts, MAS Active – Asialine has become the first manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka to obtain the trio of Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certifications.

Certified via Control Union by the global awarding bodies Textile Exchange and GOTS, Asialine sets an example for manufacturing operations across Sri Lanka, continuing their journey in manufacturing sustainable products covering synthetics, cotton and wool material.

Certified for its maintenance of established global standards, Asialine will continue to be audited by Control Union on behalf of Textile Exchange and GOTS to ensure consistent, sustainable manufacturing practices.

This achievement is part of MAS’ larger commitment to inspire sustainable change within the business, among customers, communities, and the planet at large.

MAS Holdings places sustainability at the core of its business; and as the organisation expands locally and internationally, sustainable practices have filtered further into the product manufacturing process becoming deeply embedded within the company’s organisational culture.

Whilst constantly seeking new solutions to create sustainable change, MAS Holdings has set bold, measurable targets including a plan to generate 50% revenue through sustainable products by 2025.

The trio of recently acquired certifications by MAS Active Asialine is an important step towards this goal.

The efforts are aimed not only at causing less harm to the environment but also at making a positive, long-lasting impact.

Speaking on this achievement, Chelan Goonetilleke, Chief Executive Officer of MAS Active, states

“The MAS ‘Plan for Change’ is our commitment to inspire sustainable change for our people and planet.

MAS Active Asialine stands testimony to this commitment, as it has been awarded the triad of sustainable product certifications, making it the first and only manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka to achieve this feat.”

Director of Innovation and Supply Chain at MAS Active, Kireety Madiraju, added “At MAS, sustainable products are our passion and one of our key drivers of growth.

With this certification, we now have the capability to manufacture sustainable products using synthetics, cotton and wool, placing us another step ahead on our journey to produce 50% of sustainable products by 2025.

It is a tremendous achievement for MAS Active Asialine.”
