Royal Prashanth Fertility Centre Marks a New Era in Fertility Care in Sri Lanka

Pioneering collaboration between Royal Hospital, Colombo, and Prashanth Fertility Research Centre, Chennai.

The Royal Prashanth Fertility Centre officially opens its doors, marking a new milestone in fertility and reproductive healthcare in Sri Lanka.

This groundbreaking initiative is the result of a collaboration between two leading medical institutions
— Prashanth Fertility Research Centre (PFRC), a world-renowned facility in Chennai with over 25 years of excellence, and Royal Hospital, a trusted name in Sri Lankan healthcare for more than three decades.

For over a quarter of a century, PFRC has shared a close and enduring relationship with Sri Lanka.

To its founder, Dr. Geetha
Haripriya, Sri Lanka has always felt like a second home.

Driven by her passion to help Sri Lankan couples realize their dream of parenthood, Dr.
Haripriya established the Prashanth Hospital Information Centre in Colombo in 2018, in collaboration with Royal Hospital.

This initiative enabled thousands of Sri Lankan couples to embark on their parenthood journey with proper guidance, access to advanced fertility treatments, and exclusive benefits tailored for Sri Lankan families.

However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the subsequent economic challenges made it increasingly difficult for couples to pursue fertility treatments abroad. Recognizing this need — and moved by her deep affection for the Sri Lankan people — Dr. Haripriya, together with Mr. Dinesh Ranaweera, Chairman of Royal Hospitals, took the decisive step to establish a world-class fertility centre locally.

The result of this partnership is the Royal Prashanth Fertility Centre, the first Prashanth facility established outside India — a testament to Dr. Haripriya’s commitment to Sri Lanka and its families.

This
centre brings state-of-the-art fertility treatments, advanced reproductive technologies, and compassionate care within reach of Sri Lankan couples who aspire to become parents.

“Although many countries invited us to establish centres abroad, Sri Lanka was always close to my heart,” said Dr. Geetha Haripriya, Founder and Medical Director of PFRC.

“This is our way of giving back to a country that has shown us immense love and trust.”

Thousands of Sri Lankan women now have renewed hope that their dream of motherhood can be realized right here at home.

On this momentous occasion, Royal Hospital and Prashanth Fertility Research Centre extend heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to making this collaboration a reality.
