In an effort to go beyond its endeavors to not only control and maintain, but also to continually improve the surrounding environment as an on-going process, the company recentlyobtained theGREENSL® Label (GREENSL®STAR) for its full range of wall and floor tiles from the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL) which is the local representative of the World Green Building Council.
The award was presented to the company during the Annual Green Building Conference & Green Building Awards 2015 which saw a wide range of topics being discussed on areas suchas green building practices, sustainable buildings and new technologies that are used to build the sustainable environment.
The event saw the participation of over 350 professionals including Engineers, Architects, Government Representatives/Policy Makers, Building Owners, Building and Property Developers, Suppliers, Town Planners, Associate Green Professionals, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Consultants, Contractors, Academics and Students.
The ultimate objective of this certification is to identify the overall environmental preference of a product, based on life-cycle considerations and ensure environmental friendliness throughout the lifecycle of the product.
The Green Label (GREENSL® STAR)given by the GBCSL ensuresthe use of proper products/materials with green features in the construction industry, in order to promote the local manufacturing of green products/materials, to build increased awareness on the benefits of green products/materials and to encourage the governmental authorities to grant concessions to green product manufacturers and importers.
The main goal of awardingGREENSL®STAR Label is to promote the standards of local strategies of a greener sustainable environment with international recognition, while the conventional goal is to ensure that the products/materials have a minimal detrimental impact to the environment compared to other products serving the same function.
Using a GREENSL®STAR labeled product, constructors/builders will gain the competitive advantage of scoring higher marks when obtaining GREENSL®Rating for their buildings.
