INSEE Ecocycle takes vital step forward in waste management with launch of environmental services

Sri Lanka’s foremost producer of cement used to construct one in every three houses in the country, INSEE Cement’s fully owned subsidiary, INSEE Ecocycle Lanka launched a timely eco-friendly service offering to the industries of Biyagama recently.

The Company’s independent waste management subsidiary INSEE Ecocycle introduced its Ecocycle Environment Services to industries in and around the Biyagama Export Processing Zone.


The Director of Biyagama Export Processing Zone, Mr. Athula Jayasinghe graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Several senior BOI officials and INSEE corporate customers actively participated in the unique event that further strengthened INSEE Ecocycle’s endeavor to expand its services beyond kiln co-processing.


INSEE Ecocycle has established a range of much needed industrial waste management services including laboratory services, e-waste management, emergency response, training & consultancy, specialized logistics sought after by corporate customers for sustainability endeavors.


The new service is in keeping with the Siam City Group’s trend in Asia to diversify into waste management with the long-term vision of minimizing the impact of waste that has become a serious threat for the planet.


In 2018, INSEE Ecocycle invested LKR 500 million which is the country’s highest ever investment in waste management expansion.


The investment covers environmental services and other infrastructures.


Speaking to the gathering at the launch of the new environmental service, INSEE Ecocycle Lanka Director Sanjeewa Chulakumara said “We have taken a progressive step forward by making INSEE Ecocycle an independent legal entity with the single minded mission of providing a lasting solution to the country’s problem of waste that threatens the health of nation.


The launch of our environmental services is another important milestone in our journey to build a better, cleaner environment in Sri Lanka.”

Over the past 16 years, INSEE Cement’s total investment in Ecocycle waste management initiatives has exceeded LKR 1.7 billion.


INSEE Ecocycle has studied Sri Lankan waste market and customer requirements in details through many feasibility studies and willing to bring regional know-how to develop sustainable environmental solutions to Sri Lanka.
