This was announced at a press conference held at the Hilton-Colombo on the 12th November, 2014. Maga, also, unveiled its new logo designed for the 30th anniversary celebrations at the press conference.
Speaking on the occasion, M. G. Kularatne – Chairman & Managing Director, Maga Engineering said “We have come a long way to celebrate 30 years in business and are happy to see ourselves as the industry leaders today as we celebrate this significant milestone.
Our commitment and dedication to ensure customer satisfaction through quality service enabled us secure our current position in the market. All this was possible due to the great spirit shared by our untiring, dynamic team, our resource base and our competence in absorbing latest technology.”
M. Piyadasa, Chief Executive Director, Maga Engineering said, “We are pleased to retrospect our journey full of achievements.
Maga made its presence in almost all the key areas in the construction industry and could complete over 400 multidisciplinary projects from buildings to roads, bridges, water supply and marine during this period.
We are happy that we could also play a key role in national infrastructure development, especially in the North and East.”
As part of its celebrations, Maga will host two key events for its stakeholders and employees, who are the pillars of their success. As such, dinner for stakeholders will be held at the Hilton-Colombo on the 14th of November’14 amidst senior government officials and the cream of business fraternity including Chairmen, Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers and Heads of prominent private and public organisations in the country.
The staff event to be held at the Convention Centre on the 29th November’14 will recognise long-standing employees of the organisation.
Maga Engineering was established 30 years ago in 1984 and has reached the pinnacle in the construction industry in Sri Lanka as they celebrate 30th anniversary this year.
Maga’s workforce exceeds 14,000 in number and includes a highly experienced and talented team of professionals.
The last decade marks significant for Maga as it could complete several projects with national importance during this period. Amongst them are: A-9 road, Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Kalladi Bridge, A-35 road, Northern Road Connectivity Project, Point Pedro Water Supply Project, Greater Kandy Water Supply Project and Hambantota Port Administrative Complex and many more projects of national importance.
Clearpoint Residencies at Rajagiriya - a 47-storey high-rise building, the world’s tallest residential vertical garden to be, NSBM Green University Town- South Asia’s first green university to be and the 47-storey Grand Hyatt Colombo Hotel at Colombo 03 (once completed, the tallest building in Sri Lanka) are few landmark projects that will be completed by Maga very soon.
Maga has been recognised as the leader of the construction and engineering sector for six years consecutively by the National Chamber of Commerce and is a proof of its undisputed industry leadership.
It has, also, won 78 national construction awards so far, a reflection of its clear cut innovation, dynamism and industry leadership.
Apart from that, Maga has also been recognised as the 4th in Sri Lanka’s Corporate Accountability Index.
